English Literature since 1900
Instructor: Wei-cheng R. Chu
Course Description
This course, as defined by its very title, aims at introducing students to major works of twenty-century English (or, to be more precise, British) literature to the present time, though it will still establish link with the preceding course, nglish Literature 1800-1900.? Due to the abundance and complexity of the materials covered in the course, it is basically a lecture class, though one that comes in a smaller size will allow for a limited space for student participation in the form of class discussion or oral presentation. Students?performance will be estimated mainly through (1) class participation and weekly assignments (or oral presentation when feasible; 40%), (2) mid-term (30%), and (3) final exam (30%). Textbook: The Norton Anthology of English Literature, 7th ed., vol. 2.
